Sunburn Hack
By Mia Rotell
Did you know that green tea helps soothe and calm sunburns? A sunburn happens when UV rays from the sun create molecules, called free radicals, that damage unprotected skin. Green tea’s natural compounds, called polyphenols, help reduce redness, swelling, and irritation because they act as anti-inflammatories—who would’ve thought!
What you need:
– Hot water
– About eight green tea bags (use more if you’re treating large areas like your back or shoulders)
– A mug
– A spray bottle or jar to store it in the refrigerator
How to make it:
Step 1: Pour hot water into a mug.
Step 2: Open the green tea bags and steep them all in one mug—the more concentrated the tea is, the better!
Step 3: Let it sit for about 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 4: Once it’s at room temperature, pour it into your spray bottle or jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Step 5: It’s done!
Tip: Saturate a cotton pad or soft washcloth with the tea for the best results!
