Assault with a Deadly Weapon
CORONA (CNS) – A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after shooting at a vehicle in Corona, authorities said.
Ruben Durame of Corona was arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on Wednesday, with bail set at $75,000. Durame was released Saturday.
Officers responded Tuesday after a person reported being shot at while driving on Promenade Avenue, according to the Corona Police Department.
Police said the driver of a white Nissan Pathfinder side-swiped the victim’s vehicle and confronted the victim by pointing a handgun at him. The victim immediately drove away from the scene and located officers nearby who were able to notice that a single gunshot had struck the victim’s rear passenger window.
Authorities were able to locate the vehicle and identify Durame as the suspect, police said. They served a search warrant at a residence in the 3900 block of Bennett Avenue on Wednesday, where they allegedly located a 9mm handgun inside Durame’s vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident.
Anyone with information regarding the alleged shooting was urged to contact Detective Ryan Eddy at 951-739-4869, or Ryan.Eddy@CoronaCA.gov.
