CORONA (CNS) – A 24-year-old man suspected of soliciting a minor through social media and committing lewd acts against the juvenile victim in Corona was taken into custody, authorities announced lastThursday.

Corona resident Joel Rikardo Medina was taken into custody in the 100 block of McKinley Street, near Magnolia Avenue, on Nov. 5 and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of several violations of lewd acts against a minor and sexual assault of a minor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station deputies began investigating allegations of lewd acts against a minor in October when investigators discovered that two men were sexually exploiting a boy.

Further into their investigation, deputies learned that the victim was being solicited through social media and met with two unknown men.

Investigators later identified Medina as one of the suspects and continued an ongoing investigation into locating the second suspect last Thursday evening.
