E-Scooter Rider Injured
MENIFEE (CNS) – A boy riding an e-scooter through a Menifee intersection was hit by a box truck, authorities said Friday.
The collision happened shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday at Craig Avenue and Evans Road, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said the youth, whose identity was not disclosed, was riding the e-scooter northbound on Evans and entered the crosswalk to traverse Craig when he was “struck by (the truck) traveling westbound on Craig.”
The driver immediately stopped and waited for police officers.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics found the teen with unspecified non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment and was recovering Friday. His exact age was not provided.
The driver was questioned by patrol officers and determined not to be impaired, Coburn said.
