Man Shot Dead in Menifee

MENIFEE (CNS) – A 42-year-old Menifee man died from a gunshot wound, but authorities Thursday declined to elaborate on the circumstances.

Emmanuel Villalobos died shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 25000 block of Antelope Road, near Mapes Road, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said that patrol officers were called to the location to investigate reports of a man down and discovered Villalobos “lying on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest.”

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the property minutes later and attempted resuscitative measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives were summoned to take over the investigation and determined the shooting was “an isolated incident,” and there was no remaining public danger, Coburn said.

“All involved parties were cooperative,” he said, declining to specify what may have transpired in the home.

Anyone with information was asked to contact investigators at 951-723-1656.
