Man Assaults Dad, Cops, Gets Arrested

MENIFEE (CNS) – A 25-year-old man suspected of beating his father and then barricading himself inside the victim’s Menifee home Monday refused to come out of the residence when police officers arrived, leading to an hours-long standoff that ended peacefully.

Ulises Ramiro Villa Pacheco of Menifee was taken into custody on suspicion of felony assault and resisting arrest following the confrontation with Menifee Police Department officers in the 27000 block of Adams Avenue, near Sherman Road.

Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said patrol officers were called to the property at 7:30 a.m. to investigate reports of a man injured in an attack.

“Upon arrival, officers located the suspect barricaded inside the residence,” Coburn said.

The suspect’s father, whose identity was not disclosed, was able to flee to safety. No one else was in the home.

Coburn said personnel from the department’s Crisis Negotiation Team were summoned and engaged the suspect in conversation as he remained barricaded inside the residence.

“No evacuation of neighboring homes was conducted,” Coburn said.

The negotiations netted success after nearly three hours, with Pacheco walking out of the house and surrendering without further incident.

There were no reported injuries to him or law enforcement officers.

The victim was treated for his injuries but apparently did not require hospitalization.

Background information on Pacheco was unavailable, and there was no word on what might have triggered the alleged assault.
