Menifee Hit-and-Run
MENIFEE (CNS) – A woman walking alongside a Menifee road was hit by an SUV, knocking her into lanes, where she was hit by another motorist, after which both drivers fled the location, authorities said Monday.
The victim, who survived with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was first hit shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday in the area of Ethanac and Sherman roads, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said the pedestrian, whose identity was not disclosed, was on the shoulder of Ethanac when the SUV drifted over and clipped her, causing her to spin onto the opposite side of the corridor.
Before the woman could move, she was hit by a sedan, Coburn said, adding that both drivers fled the scene without stopping.
Good Samaritans came to the victim’s aid, calling 911. The woman was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment. She was in stable condition Monday, according to Coburn.
“It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision,” he said.
Investigators are seeking to identify the two drivers involved in the hit-and-run. No specific vehicle descriptions were available.
Anyone with information relevant to the investigation was asked to contact the police department’s Traffic Unit at 951-723-1500.
