Five Nights at Freddy’s Box Office
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – “Five Nights at Freddy’s” opened with a robust $78 million this weekend to easily lead all films in North America, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
The horror film from Blumhouse Productions, based on a popular video game franchise, knocked “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” from the top of the box office heap after two weeks in the No. 1 spot. That concert film fell to third place with $14.7 million, Comscore reported.
Third place went to Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which made $9 million in its second week of release.
“After Death” opened with $5 million Friday through Sunday for fourth place, followed by “The Exorcist: Believer,” which grossed $3.1 million in its fourth weekend.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” ($2.1 million), “Freelance” ($2.06 million), a re-release of 1993’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” ($2 million), “Saw X” ($1.6 million) and “The Creator” ($1 million).
