WINCHESTER (CNS) – The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival in Winchester wrapped up Sunday, featuring a final round of musical acts, barbecues, spirits, carnival fare and balloon rides.

The event — a tradition going back to 1983 — was held within the Lake Skinner Recreation Area, just east of Temecula.

The fest returned in 2022 following a two-year hiatus stemming from the COVID lockdowns.

Stone Temple Pilots headlined Friday’s music with Lynard Skynard on stage as Saturday’s featured act. George Thorogood & The Destroyers concluded the festival on Sunday.

Lit and Fuel on Friday, Lauren Alaina and Tyler Rich on Saturday, followed by Chase Bryant and Neon Union on Sunday, filled the three-day bill.

Hot air balloon rides were ongoing throughout the day, lasting about an hour each and rising up hundreds of feet, providing guests with scenic vistas of the valley, Cleveland National Forest to the west and mountains to the north and east.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience to quietly soar above Lake Skinner and the beautiful Temecula Valley wineries & vineyards, feeling as if you’re suspended in air,” organizers said at tvbwf.com.

A total of 50 balloons were tethered at the site. The dozens of vendors on hand, included a bevy of vintners providing samples of the area’s finest ports.

Billy Williams took to the Wine Stage at Noon on Saturday, before opening for Lynard Skynard on the main stage later that night.
