Motorcycle Rider Fatally Injured in Menifee

MENIFEE (CNS) – A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he slammed into a pickup truck that turned in front of him at a Menifee intersection, authorities said Friday.

Daniel Cantor Gonzalez of Menifee was fatally injured about 6:50 p.m. Thursday at Murrieta and Farmington roads, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said that Gonzalez was going northbound on Murrieta at an unconfirmed speed when the driver of a Dodge Ram going southbound initiated a turn to go east on Farmington.

“(That’s) when a crash occurred,” Coburn said.

The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the pickup, whose driver immediately stopped.

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within 10 minutes and found good Samaritans attempting resuscitative measures on Gonzalez. Paramedics took over, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene just after 7 p.m.

The Dodge driver, whose identity was not disclosed, was not hurt.

The party was questioned by patrol officers but not arrested.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact Traffic Unit detectives at 951-723-1690.
