Temps Sizzle and Soar in Riverside County

RIVERSIDE – An early autumn heat wave is bringing record highs to parts of Riverside County and is expected to linger into Monday bringing “dangerously hot conditions.”

It was 106 in San Jacinto on Tuesday, breaking the record for the day of 105 set in 2012. It was 98 in Idyllwild, breaking the record for the day of 93 set in 2020. It was 117 in Palm Springs, breaking the record for the day of 115 set in 1980. It was 117 in Indio, breaking the record for the day of 111 set in 2020.

A record high temperature was reported in Idyllwild on Monday. It was 94, breaking the record for the day of 89 set in 2020.

Dangerously hot conditions, with temperatures between 108 and 114, are in the forecast for La Quinta, Indio, Cathedral City, Borrego Springs, Coachella, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Palm Desert County.

The low temperatures in those areas will be in the mid 70s to low 90s.

Heat advisories have been issued for Riverside County valley communities, Moreno Valley, Corona, and Riverside, where temperatures are expected to be between 100 and 108. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
