Perris Home Invasion

PERRIS (CNS) – A 31-year-old man suspected of burglarizing a residence in Perris, where he allegedly tied up and assaulted the victim, has been taken into custody, authorities announced Monday.

Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 15000 block of Washington Street around 2:50 p.m. Thursday regarding a suspicious circumstance, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

A victim was located by the responding deputies and treated at the scene for minor injuries after being tied up and assaulted by two suspects before they fled the residence.

“During the investigation, deputies learned the suspects fled the residence with several handguns and two vehicles,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

One of the stolen vehicles was located by Perris Sheriff’s Station deputies and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The chase ended after the vehicle struck a fence in the 23000 block of Old Road.

The suspect fled from the vehicle, which later caught fire and was extinguished by Cal Fire firefighters.

Luis Huato Talavera was eventually located by the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and a K-9 unit and taken into custody.

Investigators were unable to find the second suspect. Talavera was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of home invasion robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and elder abuse.

The residential burglary investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary was urged to call Investigator Mendoza at the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station at 951-272-5600.
