Elsinore Nurse, Lauro Pascual Gonzales, Accused of Sexual Assault
LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) – A 40-year-old registered nurse under contract at multiple hospitals throughout Riverside County was arrested Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient.
Lauro Pascual Gonzales of Lake Elsinore was booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Tuesday on suspicion of sexual penetration of an unconscious subject. Gonzales was being held in lieu of $110,000 bail.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, investigators from the agency’s Special Victims Unit were informed last month about alleged inappropriate contact involving a medical worker at a regional trauma center.
The suspect was soon identified as Gonzales.
“Investigators learned that Gonzales was employed as a nurse by multiple hospitals in the county,” sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Peters said.
The circumstances regarding the suspect’s alleged assault on the female patient, including the exact location, were not disclosed.
Early Tuesday morning, deputies served an arrest warrant on Gonzales after a traffic stop near the on-ramp to Interstate 15 from Temescal Canyon Road, Peters said.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of “additional evidence,” the sergeant said, without elaborating.
It was unclear whether other patients may have been victimized by the suspect.
Anyone with information was urged to contact investigators at 951-955-1718.
