The 5th annual “Good Trouble Lives On” national protest was held on Thursday July 17th in Menifee at the Newport and Haun intersection. A dozen protesters covered each sidewalk corner of the intersection.

Protesters peacefully sat on lawn chairs and held signs about civil right laws, anti-immigration policies, and impeachment calls for President Trump — without the Menifee police making an appearance.

The “Good Trouble Lives On” rallies started in 2020 when the Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) called the nation to honor and remember the late Civil RIghts leader Congressman – John Lewis. TJC deemed July 17th as John Lewis National Day of Action to honor the representative’s death.

Lewis was known for using the phrase ”good trouble” as a way to encourage Americans to peacefully protest and exercise their rights. The TJC continues to cover and discuss civil rights issues and give coverage to rallies and activists.
