Bee Baths
By Mia Rotell
Birds are singing and flowers are blooming, so bees are buzzing. The buzzy little pollinators work overtime every Spring, so why not give them a safe spot to rest and cool off? Little bee baths are not only a cute addition to your garden but also provide a safe space for your bees to have some fun under the sun.
What you need:
– A medium small terracotta flower pot
– A saucer that matches the flower pot
– Iodized salt
– Water
– Marbles or small smooth rocks
How to make it:
Step 1: Flip the pot upside down so the bottom is facing up.
Step 2: Put the pot saucer on top of the bottom. This doesn’t get flipped upside down, the deepest part it up.
Step 3: Place the rocks or marbles in the saucer. Some overlap is okay but it needs to be only one layer on the bottom of the saucer!
Step 4: Sprinkle a little bit of salt over the saucer.
Step 4: Fill the saucer with water. Make sure the rocks or marbles are wet, but not completely under water. Leave a little bit of room at the top of the saucer so the bees can stand on the rocks or marbles.
Step 5: You’re done!
Tip: Find little rocks or marbles easily at any pet store in the aquarium section!.
