Lace Ghosts

By Mia Rotell and Lauren Rotell

Need a cute and spooky element to add to your 2026 home catalog? Create a cozy, primitive look and feel with some lace, an embroidery hoop and felt! This adorable little ghost decoration is sure to add just the right amount of Halloween spirit to your home.

What you need

–       An embroidery hoop

–       A doily or lace fabric

–       Scissors

–       Black felt

–       Hot glue gun

–       Hot glue stick

How to make it

Step 1: Lay out the lace fabric. If you are using a doily, you can skip to Step 4!

Step 2: Lay your embroidery hoop in the middle of the lace fabric.

Step 3: Cut a circle around the embroidery hoop. It should be 2 to 4 inches wider than the embroidery hoop.

Step 4: Move the embroidery hoop out of the way and lay the lace fabric or doily flat on the floor.

Step 5: Take your embroidery hoop and lay it on top of the doily or lace fabric.

Step 6: Instead of keeping the hoop directly in the middle, keep it centered but move it upward.

Step 7: Once you have the position you want, separate the two hoops and secure the fabric between them. The inside hoop goes underneath the fabric, while the outside hoop, with the tightener, goes on top of the fabric.

Step 8: Take the black felt and cut out two ovals for the eyes and a small circle for the mouth.

Step 9: Place the felt eyes and mouth where you want the ghost’s features to be. Hot-glue the felt to the doily or lace fabric. Use only a small amount of glue!

Step 10: Find a cute place to hang your ghost, and you’re done!

Tip! Want to make it extra spooktacular? Tie a ribbon into a bow and hot-glue it to
