`Wakanda Forever’ Grosses Another $67.3 Million to Top Box Office
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” easily kept its spot atop the box office, grossing $67.3 million in its second weekend at North American theaters, according to industry estimates released today.
The sequel to 2018’s blockbuster Marvel Comics adaptation was far ahead of “The Menu,” which opened with $9 million, Comscore reported. “The Chosen Season 3: Episodes 1 & 2,” a faith-based series being screened in theaters beginning this weekend, captured third place with $8.2
million.
“Black Adam” was fourth with $4.48 million Friday through Sunday in its fifth week, followed by “Ticket to Paradise” with $3.2 million in its fifth week.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “She Said” ($2.25 million), “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” ($1.9 million), “Smile” ($1.15 million), “Drishyam 2” ($1.025 million) and “Prey for the Devil” ($935,000).
This weekend’s overall three-day box office haul was estimated at $101.9 million. The year-to-date total is up to $6.612 billion — an increase of 94% over the figure at this time last year, according to Comscore.
