All the ingredients together pre-simmering.

To me one of the dishes that screams the holidays to me is cranberry sauce. Now it’s probably overlooked by most people and I feel like that is a big mistake. Cranberry sauce adds acidity to the meal that you don’t typically find in the big heavy meals of the holidays. That is what makes it so brilliant. Load a fork with all the heavy meats and potaoes and gravies and give it a dunk in cranberry sauce before you take a bite. It’s about as festive and delicious as it gets. Let’s make some cranberry sauce.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bag whole cranberry
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange peel
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

To Make

Combine all the ingredients to a simmer and bring to a simmer. Be careful as it may flair up and overflow the pot. If it does, stir and reduce the heat slightly. Simmer until all the cranberries have burst. Let cool. Refrigerate. And serve later. EAT.
