After Cornell Hatcher Jr. scored his 5th touchdown of the game, bringing the Huskies within a point of the Braves with only 8 seconds left, Centennial coach coach Matt Logan, the winningest high school football coach in Riverside County history, opted to go for the win, deciding on a 2-point conversion. Centennial QB Husan Longstreet (center) was taken down shy of the goal line. But Centennial maintained life, recovering the onside kick. From midfield, Longstreet’s first pass was batted down and he was sacked on the final play, of what is an instant classic football game. Bosco and Mater Dei will face-off in the championship for the 6th time since 2016. Bosco has won three of the previous five, including last year. The Huskies finish their season 9-3, the losses coming to three of the top five teams in the nation, as ranked by MaxPreps: Mater Dei, Bishop Gorman of Nevada and St. John Bosco. Photo by Gary Evans
