Ambush Robberies
PERRIS (CNS) – Authorities Wednesday announced the arrest of a 20-year-old man who was free on bail in connection to another crime and allegedly ambushed a victim he met on social media during an armed robbery at a planned meet-up in Perris to purchase an item.
Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were sent to the 1200 block of Mount Shasta Street around 5:05 p.m. Sunday to reports regarding an armed robbery, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation by the Perris Station Special Enforcement Team identified Moreno Valley resident Adrian Henning as a person of interest who agreed to meet someone from a popular social media sales app.
“When Henning and the victim agreed to meet to exchange the property, Henning took the property without paying and brandished a firearm,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
Henning was ultimately taken into custody after being located in Moreno Valley by deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station with assistance from Gang Impact Team personnel, where investigators recovered a firearm and the victim’s property from the suspect’s residence after executing a search.
Further investigation led investigators to determine that Henning was connected to another similar offense the same day in the Mead Valley area of Perris. Sheriff’s officials said he contacted that victim on a popular social media sales app to purchase an item, and once the two met up, Henning allegedly attempted to forcibly take the victim’s property before fleeing the area.
Henning was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of robbery, assault with a firearm, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and committing a felony while on bail.
An investigation continued Wednesday evening into the ambush robbery and attempted robbery.
Anyone with additional information regarding the case was urged to call Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at 951-776-1099 or the Perris Station at 951-210-1000.
