RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Riverside County is in for more triple-digit temperatures this weekend and throughout next week, prompting the National Weather Service to issue an excessive heat watch in some areas.

The heat watch will be effective from 10 a.m. Sunday to at least 8 p.m. Friday in the areas of Palm Springs, Coachella, Palm Desert, Palm Desert Country, La Quinta, Cathedral City and Indio. Temperatures in these areas were expected to range from 110 to 118, according to the NWS.

“High temperatures will decrease slightly on Monday, but a much longer duration heat wave begins on Tuesday with highs slowly increasing through next weekend,” forecasters said.

The Coachella Valley was expected to reach a high of 109 Saturday and 111 Sunday with overnight lows around 78.

Saturday temperatures will reach a high of 95 in the Riverside metropolitan area and 100 on Sunday with lows in the mid-60s both nights.

In the Temecula Valley, temperatures were expected to remain in the low 90s all weekend with overnight temperatures in the low 60s.
