Impersonating Police Officer
HEMET (CNS) – An investigation continued Wednesday into a felon accused of impersonating a peace officer and possessing a stun gun and other weapons- related items following a traffic stop in Hemet.
According to the Hemet Police Department, officers stopped a motorcyclist who had committed multiple vehicle code violations and was using emergency lights. The rider was wearing a uniform resembling local law enforcement and was equipped with a duty belt and a Glock-style pistol, police said.
For officer safety, the suspect was disarmed and his motorcycle was searched, revealing two Taser electronic control devices, an expandable baton and pepper spray, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Marshal Goodnight, who is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or weapons due to a prior felony conviction. He was also not licensed to “provide any security services through California’s Bureau of Security and Investigative Services,” police said.
Background information on Goodnight was not available.
Anyone with additional information was urged to contact Sgt. Chavez at 951-765-2400 ext. 3725.
