When the NY Giants failed on a 4th down conversion on its opening series last Sunday, Tanner McKee stepped onto the field for the first time as an NFL starter with great field position on the Giants 48-yard line. Connecting on three straight precision passes for a touchdown, McKee showed Philly fans what Corona Centennial boosters became accustomed to during his four-year Huskies career, the last two as a starter.

Graduating in 2018, McKee threw for 6,385 yards, for 68 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. Precision was his calling card. After completing a two-year Mormon Church mission in Brazil, McKee, the third-rated quarterback nationally in his high school class, embarked on a three-year stint at Stanford.

He showed enough to be drafted by the Eagles in the 6th round of the 2023 draft. But it wasn’t until the 16th game of his second year that McKee saw regular season action when the two QB’s in front of him, including Jalen Hurts, were injured. McKee promptly started his pro career by throwing two touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys.

Stepping in to start the Eagles final regular season game, McKee led Philly to a 20-13 win, throwing for 269 yards and two more TD’s.
