Boy Allegedly Caught with Gun on Perris High Campus

PERRIS (CNS) – A Perris High School student was arrested for allegedly bringing a loaded pistol onto the campus, authorities said Wednesday.

The boy, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken into custody and booked into Riverside Juvenile Hall on Tuesday following a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department investigation.

Sgt. Justin Hill said a deputy assigned to the high school, located on East Nuevo Road, as a resource officer was alerted to the possibility of an armed teen on the grounds shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday and initiated an investigation.

“No explicit threats were made toward staff and students,” Hill said.

He said the youth was quickly identified, culminating in a search that “revealed a concealed and loaded firearm.”

The boy was taken into custody without incident and booked on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm on school grounds.

There was no word regarding where the pistol had been obtained or why the juvenile allegedly brought it onto the campus.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation was asked to contact the sheriff’s Perris station at 951-210-1000.
