Menifee Pursuit

MENIFEE (CNS) – A 26-year-old man was in custody Saturday after allegedly leading authorities on a short pursuit, the Menifee Police Department announced.

Officers responded to the 29000 block of Peacock Mountain Drive around 8:10 a.m. Friday to a report of a possible man with a gun. They found the suspect, Joe Felix Jr., had a court-issued restraining order against him, forbidding him to be within 100 yards of the victim, who was not identified, police said.

Felix Jr. allegedly left the scene before officers arrived, but with air support assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Felix was located traveling westbound on Newport Road toward Lake Elsinore, authorities said.

An unmarked Menifee police unit located and followed Felix Jr.’s vehicle. Sheriff’s units that were assisting near Railroad Canyon Road and Interstate 15 attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect allegedly did not stop.

Felix Jr. allegedly continued driving back to Menifee toward the victim’s residence, but Menifee officers were able to use stop sticks to deflate all four of his tires, and he was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported during the pursuit or arrest.

Felix Jr. was booked into the Southwest Detention Center where he was being held on $50,000 bail on suspicion of a court order violation, evading a peace officer and having outstanding local warrants for vandalism and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

His first court appearance was scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
