MUSD 8th Grader
Most 8th graders are struggling through algebra, navigating the daunting transition from middle school to high school, and trying to figure out what the heck they are seeing on social media. And then there is Harlie Granger.
Granger, having started dancing when she was 18 months old, traveled half way around the world with her team to compete against 21 other countries at the World Tap Dance Championship in Prague, Czech Republic. They won the silver medal in the Production category and finished 5th in the Jr. Formation category.
“This achievement represents the pinnacle of my dance journey so far,” said Harlie “… and it has given me a sense of happiness unlike anything I have ever known.”
Sasha, Halrie’s mother adds, “ Sasha, Harlie’s mother. “To witness her doing what she loves, surrounded by some of her closest friends, was the most rewarding and unforgettable experience I could imagine.”
When it comes to academics, Granger doesn’t miss a step. As a student at Hans Christian Middle School, she maintains a straight A report card. She is also a member of the Associated Student Body (ASB), cheerleading squad, and Community Engagement Initiative (CEI).
“Harlie’s achievement is an example of the incredible heights our students can reach when they pair passion with perseverance,” said Dr. Jennifer Root, Superintendent of Menifee Union School District.
