Peanut Butter Sauce
By Connor Forbes
Do you ever get to the end of a peanut butter jar and think “dang, if only I could use the last bit of peanut butter coating the jar.” Well Connor Cooks is here to tell you can! And not only can you use the last remnants of peanut butter, you can create a savory sauce packed with umami. That sauce then can be used to marinate chicken, shrimp, or mix in with ground beef. Or use it for a dipping sauce. Spring rolls make a great dipping companion.
Waste not want not, my mom always said. And here we are not wasting a drop of that yummy peanut butter that would have ended up in the trash.
This recipe is infinitely flexible as well. Sub in and out your preferred Asian sauces to make any number of variations on this sauce.
Ingredients
- Last remnants of peanut butter in a jar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar
- 1 tsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp mirin
- Greens of a green onion
- Chopped Thai chili pepper
To Make
In the peanut butter jar add all your ingredients. Use a spatula to loosen peanut butter off the sides and bottom of jar. Close jar with lid and shake vigorously. If you need, you can also use a whisk. Enjoy!
