On Saturday, April 25, the City of Perris and the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) celebrated Arbor day by planting six fruitless pear trees in Paragon Park.

Perris earned the 2025 Tree City USA recognition due to maintaining over 6,200 trees city wide and for the city’s overall dedication to urban forestry.

Along with the trees planted in Paragon Park, the Public Works Committee planted over 30 trees along Placentia Ave and on the corner of the Redlands and Placentia Ave intersection as part of the city’s tree planting initiative.

The species of trees include 13 Chinese Flames, six Acacia Stenophilla, 12 Indian Rosewood, six Redwood Ash, seven Japanese Blueberry, plus the six Bradford Pear trees in Paragon Park.

YAC liaison, Kimberley Hernandez, says that the YAC will continue to uphold the community’s values through making a healthier cleaner Perris.
