Pizza Oven Cast Iron Salmon
My family welcomed our 3rd boy this past week. On top of that the temperatures have been very hot. So, the outside pizza oven has been putting in some work. It gets super-hot so it cooks off meals very fast.
And if you recall, I really hate heating the house even more on hot days and will sweat my bottom off outside to save a couple of dollars on energy bills.
This salmon does take some specialized equipment to get it right but if you have the goods, this will be one of your favorite ways to prepare salmon. Let’s get outside, break a sweat, and cook some salmon!
Ingredients
· 1 lb salmon
· ½ lemon squeezed
· ½ tsp salt
· Dill
· ½ tbsp olive oil
Equipment
· Pizza oven
· Cast iron pan that fits in oven
Preheat a pizza oven to about 800 degrees. Place the cast iron pan in the oven to preheat. Season salmon with the lemon juice, salt and dill. Carefully, and with appropriate oven mitt or handle remove the preheated cast iron pan and place salmon on the pan. Return pan to oven and cook for 4-5 minutes until salmon is cooked to 125 degrees internal temperature. Let cool for 5 minutes. Drizzle with olive oil. Serve and EAT!
