Valentine’s Day
RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Riverside County residents who want to exchange wedding vows on Valentine’s Day have the option of tying the knot at any one of four Assessor-Clerk-Recorder offices countywide, officials announced Friday.
“Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular days of the year for couples to get married,” Assessor-Clerk-Recorder Peter Aldana said. “We’re here to make the process seamless, and we encourage couples to plan ahead and secure their spot for this meaningful day.”
Civil ceremonies conducted by certified wedding commissioners from the clerk’s office or elsewhere can be arranged at the agency’s offices at Riverside Gateway, Hemet, Palm Desert and Temecula.
Officials said walk-in appointments for nuptials on Feb. 14 are accepted, but wait times may be longer, depending on demand at each office.
The county generally has access to the historic 14th Street Chapel across from U.S. District Court in downtown Riverside, as well, but only Monday to Thursday. Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday this year, ceremonies couldn’t be arranged for that occasion. However, officials said the day before, Feb. 13, is “sold out.”
The Assessor-Clerk-Recorder’s Office said couples should adhere to the following recommendations before making an appointment for a civil ceremony:
— file a marriage application online;
— have government-issued identification in hand; and
— if planning a public ceremony, have a witness ready to attend.
