Boys Basketball State Championship

In one dominating performance after another, Eastvale Eleanor Roosevelt senior guard Brayden Burries led the Mustangs to its first district, regional, and state basketball championships

The title tilt against San Francisco Archbishop Riordan in Sacramento on Saturday, was historic, as the Mustangs pulled away for a 20-point victory. Burries broke the CIF Open Division title game scoring record with 44 points on 15 for 22 shooting, including 4 of 6 3-pointers.

But it was a complete performance as he added 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocked shots, 2 steals and only 1 turnover.

Senior point guard Miles Walker added 15 and junior guard Jackson Haggins chipped in 12. The Mustangs complete their 35-2 state championship season, with a clean slate against California teams. The only early season losses came against Brennan of San Antonio, TX, and Gonzaga of Washington D.C. 

The national high school sports Internet site MaxPreps ranks the Mustangs as the #2 team in the nation.
