Storms Bound for Inland Empire
RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Another round of wet weather is in the forecast across the Inland Empire beginning this weekend and possibly rolling into next week, meteorologists said Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, a “broad deep trough” pushing eastward from the Pacific Ocean amid another jet stream-driven “atmospheric river” is on course for Central California, with the trailing edge expected to drift over Southern California by the weekend.
“The onset of the rain could come as early as Saturday afternoon, or as late as Monday, with Sunday the most likely starting point and Monday the most likely day for heavy rain,” the Weather Service said in a statement. “Rainfall could be substantial, with over one inch likely west of the mountains. There is little … consensus for the ending of the rain, but periods of rain will likely last two to three days, possibly more, due to the slow movement of the trough.”
No weather advisories have been posted yet ahead of the storms.
Meantime, from Tuesday to Friday, conditions throughout the inland region are slated to be calm, clear and mild.
In the Riverside metropolitan area, daytime highs will generally peak in the upper 60s or low 70s this week, with overnight temperatures in the mid 40s. The mercury will start to settle lower once the inclement weather arrives, forecasters said.
In the Coachella Valley, highs this week will hover in the low to mid 70s, with nighttime temps in the low 50s, while in the Temecula Valley, daytime temps aren’t expected to top 65, with overnight lows in the low 40s.
