Tomato Sandwich
By Connor Forbes
Nothing screams summer like a tomato. Sweet, tart, savory, and extremely versatile. You can use tomatoes for soup, sauces, salsa, sides, and even as the main focus. This is a main focus recipe. And a recipe that I can’t stop making frequently once summer hits. Simple, utterly delicious, and oh so summery. Bonus points if the tomato is home grown. Let’s make a tomato sandwich.
Ingredients
· 2 slices of bread
· 1tbsp mayonnaise
· 1 large beefsteak tomato
· Salt and pepper
· Basil (optional)
To Make
Take your slices of bread and add mayo to one side of each piece. Yes, it feels like a lot of mayo, no you aren’t doing it wrong. Add a pinch of salt on top of mayo. Slice tomato and layer onto bread. Salt each layer. Yes, it will feel like a lot of salt, no you aren’t doing it wrong. Once you have your desired amount of tomato stack up, hit it with pepper to taste. Optional: add basil. Close sandwich and EAT!
