Winter Storm Expected
RIVERSIDE (CNS) – A winter storm watch is in effect for parts of Riverside County starting Friday with snow and strong winds in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
The winter storm watch is in effect from Friday night until Sunday afternoon in mountain areas above 5,500 feet.
Snow accumulations are expected to be between 1 and 3 inches with west winds from 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph with the strongest on desert slopes.
There will be slippery road conditions because of the winter storm and winds could lead to damage to trees and downed power lines. Visibility will be reduced because of snow.
Snow levels are expected to start at 6,500 feet on Friday, drop to 5,500 feet on Saturday and 5,000 feet on Sunday.
