Mothers day Centerpiece
By Mia Rotell
Clean the house, polish the silverware, and grab the finest china for this Mother’s Day. It doesn’t matter whether you’re hosting an intimate gathering for your mom or a large celebration — a centerpiece that’s also functional ties the whole table together. Whether your mom enjoys champagne, wine, or even sparkling cider, this floral centerpiece will keep people talking for years to come.
What you need
– Four Styrofoam or floral foam blocks
– Three artificial flower bouquet arrangements (variety)
– Two-leaf filler picks
– Two artificial flower picks (same type)
– One bottle of something bubbly
– Eight toothpicks
– Scissors
How to Make it
Step 1: Unwrap the floral foam and arrange it in a square.
Step 2: Remove the tags from all the bouquets.
Step 3: Insert two toothpicks into the right-facing side of the bottom-left foam block at an angle, with the points facing you.
Step 4: Take the bottom-right block and press it onto the toothpicks to connect the blocks without tape or glue.
Step 5: Repeat the process with the top-left block. Insert toothpicks into the front-facing side of the bottom-left block, angling them diagonally to the right.
Step 6: Slide the top-left block onto the toothpicks.
Step 7: To secure the top-right block, insert toothpicks into the bottom-right block at an angle facing right and into the top-left block at a diagonal.
Step 8: Push the top-right block onto the exposed toothpicks from both blocks.
Step 9: Once all four blocks are secured, cut one flower stem at a time and insert it into the foam. Start with larger flowers, then fill in with smaller flowers and greenery.
Step 10: Leave a small opening in the top center of the foam to hold your bottle of bubbly.
Step 11: Continue adding flowers until no foam is visible.
Step 12: You’re done.
Tip: Insert flowers behind the bottle to add height to the centerpiece.
