Pre-season predictions often end up in the circular file, but not this year in the top division of CIF Southern Section baseball.

Corona High and Studio City Harvard Westlake were both expected to dominate this season and they did, from the beginning to this Saturday’s Division 1 championship game.

And the path for both was riddled with mines, going against the top teams in the state and country.

Riding a two-run homer smacked by Seth Hernandez, top-seed Corona topped Huntington Beach 31 on Tuesday. The second-seed Wolverines of Harvard Westlake beat Orange Lutheran 4-2 to advance.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm Saturday at The Diamond, home of the Lake Elsinore Storm
